Action film buffs that are enamored with cataclysmic special effects, the spraying of hundreds and thousands of bullets without ever hitting its intended victims, a total lack of continuity, absurdities and a totally puzzling script with non-stop action, rejoice! The A Team is a film you have been waiting and craving for.
The four eclectic guys of the once popular TV series are back with a vengeance trying to clear their names after being falsely sentenced by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Sharlto Copley are the colorful characters in question and they fulfill their roles very well. However, they are embroiled in a screenplay, co-written by director Joe Carnahan, which is so far fetched, disjointed and farcical, it is hard to decipher the good guys from the bad. We know the “team” are the good guys as well as Jessica Biel. who is Face’s former lover. The captain is dogging the elusive “team” in order to bring them to justice.
The rest is a bit incoherent unless you were part of the story conferences trying to bring order out of chaos. Cooper is good looking , very buff and attracts women as easily as a good looking guy who is very buff. It’s his movie and like his stint in The Hangover, he has a tour de force.
In defense of Carnahan, The A Team is explosive (literally) from the beginning of the credits to the last scene. The film is entertaining and Carnahan doesn’t give you a chance to take a breath and keep up with the story, which is a good thing.
