To honor the Los Angeles Ballet and its principal dancers, Rosa Lladró, president of the fine art and porcelain company Lladró, will appear to meet and greet aficionados and sign pieces.
Lladró will unveil the new limited edition sculpture “Backstage Ballet” at the event as well. The piece depicts three young ballerinas rehearsing before a performance in classic Lladró colors.
“The founders of Lladró are trained artists,” said Lladró. “They studied fine art and have always been connected with the world of art in one way or another. In the specific theme of ballet as a support for the visual arts, depicting it in porcelain has given our sculptors an opportunity to explore anatomy and movement, as we see in our latest piece.”
A portion of sales from “Backstage Ballet” will be donated to the Los Angeles Ballet.
Lladró will visit the Lladró Boutique (408 N. Rodeo Dr.) April 29 from 6-8 p.m. Also present will be dancers from the Los Angeles Ballet.
When asked why Lladró chose the Los Angeles Ballet to commemorate and the Beverly Hills boutique to feature this unveiling, Lladró said: “California is such a unique and privileged space with such illustrious citizens and distinguished public. We decided on Beverly Hills because of its affinities with our own city (Valencia, Spain). We are at home here.”
