The regular request of the Beverly Hills Municipal League to use City Council chambers for its candidate forum for the new 50th California Assembly District race brought a challenge from Mayor Barry Brucker, who used the request to attack Municipal League Board of Governors Chairman Thomas White over White's criticism of Brucker's plans for a massive new building at Roxbury Park. After reform councilmember Lili Bosse pointed out that the two were “not related,” Brucker relented and joined the rest of the council to grant permission. The forum will feature the four announced candidates Republican Brad Torgan and Democrats Torie Osborn, Richard Bloom and Betsy Butler.
