A woman and her current boyfriend were charged today with the stabbing murder of her ex-boyfriend -- the 21-year-old son of filmmaker Fuminori Hayashida -- outside his Beverly Hills home.
Chie Alexandra Coggins Johnson, 20, and Scott Joseph Barker, 23, are scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow in Beverly Hills Superior Court, according to Shiara Davila-Morales of the District Attorney's Office.
Katsutoshi Tony Takazato, the son of filmmaker Fuminori Hayashida, was found dead about 6 a.m. Tuesday outside his home in the 1800 block of Carla Ridge in the exclusive Trousdale Estates area.
Johnson had dated the victim until recently, when she began dating Barker, who allegedly become enraged upon learning that she may have been physically abused by Takazato, said Deputy District Attorney Danette Meyers.
The criminal complaint alleges that Barker personally used a knife during the commission of the crime.
Johnson and Barker were arrested late Tuesday night by Beverly Hills police.
They were each jailed in lieu of $3 million bail, and face up to life in prison if convicted, according to the District Attorney's Office.
A third person who was arrested was released, when the investigation concluded he wasn't involved in the slaying, authorities said.
Beverly Hills police had refused to provide the circumstances of the arrests or the suspects' names, saying Wednesday that they were `keeping information to a minimum solely due to the nature of the investigation.'
The victim's father is the producer of several late 1990s films, including Lured Innocence and No Strings Attached.
