A motorist or motorists struck and killed a deer today on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The first report of the deer came from a caller who said he was in a blue Chrysler 300 sedan and had just struck `` a very large animal - possibly a deer' just south of Skirball Center Drive, according to the CHP.
A few minutes someone in the same area south of Skirball Center Drive reported a large, possibly dead animal in one of the right-hand lanes of the northbound freeway.
At 1:38 a.m., another caller reported a dead deer blocking a lane on the northbound 405, and by 1:49 a.m. somebody had moved the animal carcass to the
roadside, according to the CHP.
A CHP officer at the scene searched for but did not find the caller in the blue Chrysler 300 who initially reported striking the deer.
