A pedestrian on the Hollywood (101) Freeway in the Cahuenga Pass was struck by a sport utility vehicle today, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The accident in a northbound lane near Barham Boulevard was reported at 12:18 a.m., according to the CHP.
A 31-year-old Newport Beach man, whose name was withheld, was running east across the freeway when he was struck by a 2000 Ford Explorer driven by a 33-year-old Canoga Park woman.
The man, who suffered fractures to his skull and right leg, was taken Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, according to the CHP.
It was unclear what the man was doing in traffic.
Northbound lanes, temporarily closed at Barham Boulevard to accommodate the investigation, were reopened shortly after 1 a.m., according to the CHP.
