Singer Faith Evans was arrested Saturday night after being stopped at a drunken driving checkpoint near Marina del Rey.
The Grammy-winning Evans was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor drunken driving, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Felipe Vasquez of the West Traffic Division.
The checkpoint was set up at Washington and Lincoln boulevards, Vasquez said.
Evans showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol, he said.
Evans was held for about four hours and released, according to Vasquez.
Her car was impounded, he said.
The 37-year-old singer is known as the widow of rapper Christopher Wallace, also known as The Notorious B.I.G. She won a Grammy in 1998 for her tribute to Wallace called "I'll Be Missing You.'
In 2004, Evans and record company executive Todd Russaw were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine after a traffic stop in an Atlanta suburb.
As a result, the two ended up spending 13 weeks in an addiction treatment program.
A reality series chronicling her life is reportedly in the works, and a new album is scheduled for release in October, according to online sources.
