Frank Lloyd Wright’s mid-century Usonian architectural design style served as the inspiration for the home at 9544 Oak Pass Road. This has all the features of a typical Usonian home—open floor plan, lofty windows, and a strong connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces. Its beauty is in its details, layout, furniture, cabinets, fixtures, height of the doors and rows of windows.
Priced at $3.685 million, the home is being sold fully furnished, including original pieces, light fixtures and accessories
Originally designed by Louis Mosbrooker, the home was completely restored by Victor Cohenca and VC Designs in Beverly Hills and recently published in the book Oak Pass Road.
The Paraguayan-born Cohenca, known for projects in many versatile styles ranging from American traditional to Spanish to modern and contemporary, is deeply influenced by Wright. Seizing the opportunity to work on a mid-century, Wright-inspired home, Cohenca purchased the home in 2008 and undertook an elaborate renovation.
Cohenca began studying architecture at National University of Asuncion in his native Paraguay. As a Fulbright scholar, he moved to the United States in 1989 to pursue his graduate degree in architecture. Upon earning his degree in 1991, Cohenca moved to Southern California where he has lived with his family for almost 20 years.
He formed his design and construction firm, VC Design, in 1992 and has since completed more than 100 projects.
Built in 1964, the Oak Pass home has three bedrooms and three baths, plus living, family and dining rooms, a library/study, office, breakfast bar and pantry off the kitchen, and music room.
Every room opens to the outdoors with a spa, terraced yard, patios, outdoor shower and fountains.
In the BHPO area, the home is on a “celebrity-studded street” that will soon be gated, said Jackie Cohenca, one of the listing agents.
The listing is also shared with Sandy Feldmar and Rona Kaufman, all of Teles Properties.
