At JB Natural Foot Massage, John Boehm and Wei Li have created a modern, eco-friendly environment specializing in relaxing foot massages—reflexology—and full-body massages.
Extremely popular in China, reflexology involves massaging areas on the feet that correspond to specific organs, glands and even the brain.
“People are on their feet all day,”said Boehm, a former commercial real estate agent with the Klabin Company and small business owner. “And reflexology is a logical first step to relax and become invigorated.”
Health benefits, according to Li, an experienced practitioner of Oriental medicine with a Ph.D in herbal medicine, include stress reduction, improved circulation, clearer skin, more restful sleep and renewed energy.
Reflexology has been used to treat such conditions as tension headaches, digestive disorders, arthritis, back pain and sports injuries.
To celebrate its grand opening today, JB’s is offering a special to introduce clients to the health benefits of reflexology. Patrons who buy a membership of 10 massages get two free. Special introductory rates through Aug. 10 are $15 for 30 minutes and $25 for an hour foot massage.
After feet soak in an herb-infused tub of warm water, they are dried and the massage begins. To maintain a safe, sterile environment, the plastic tub liners are replaced for each patron. The foot massage even includes work on the shoulders, back and neck. The salon chairs automatically recline to make clients more comfortable.
They also offer an oil-less, over-clothes full-body massage for $30 for 30 minutes and $45 for an hour. The benefits are convenience, cost and time over a traditional massage.
With a desire to provide a needed service in the right atmosphere, Boehm and Li worked with certified green designer Dana Sigal to create the decor. The 800-square-foot facility features all natural materials including the wall paint and clear coat on the floor and George Nelson paper lamps.
Their slogan is “Relax Your Soul,” and at JB Natural, that is exactly what you do.
JB Natural Foot Massage, at 329 S. Robertson (at Gregory) between Wilshire and Olympic is open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Walk-ins are welcome.
