In 1998, three college friends started The Sofa Company to finally make the process of purchasing a sofa—fun, fast, and simple. Along with the motto “you design it, we build it” came the promise to continue to innovate the selections available and make the process of buying a sofa enjoyable for residents throughout Los Angeles.
With large showroom in Santa Monica and Pasadena, a factory clearance center in Commerce, a new downtown showroom, and one coming soon to Redondo Beach, The Sofa Company can confidently claim to have the largest selection of styles, sizes, fabrics, legs, sofabeds in the city.
And the thousands of sofas sitting in homes throughout the L.A. area are testament to the firm’s success.
The 1-2-3 Process
The Sofa Company features more than 75 custom sofa styles to choose from in any custom size, fabric, or configuration.
In the, easy 1-2-3 buying process, customers ....
1. Style it!—choose a favorite style and configuration. The Sofa Company custom builds every sofa, so customers choose the design they like and tell the company the size/shape their room wants, and they start building and upholstering...“why fit a square into a round peg because that’s the only option you have? You make the size options at The Sofa Company.”
2. Cover it!—mix and match fabrics to complement a sofa design. The absolute best way to select the perfect fabric combination is to visit the fabric library in one of the showrooms. With literally thousands of patterns and textures, we have something for every taste and every budget.
3. Accessorize!–modify a sofa with a selection of sofabeds, pillows, legs, and more.
Browsing the Web site (www.thesofaco.com), gives customers a sense of what they can add to their sofa design. Change up the pillows and cushions, detail the stitching arrangement, sit the sofa on some hot, stylish legs, add a sofabed...“you tell us what you want the sofa for and we will customize it to fit your lifestyle.”
Made In California
The Sofa Company is proud of the fact that it produces its sofa line in Los Angeles and has a staff made up entirely of Southern California residents.
“While most of our competition has ventured abroad for cheaper price points and labor, we take pride that we continue to operate a locally run factory that supports our economy and country,” the company says.
“Not only is this unique in today's day and age, this also allows us to watch over every single sofa that gets delivered. We understand our success so far has been due to our level of personal service and attention and will continue to produce your products in your neighborhood.
“In this day and age of products flooding our markets from overseas and foreign economies, The Sofa Company is extremely proud that we are supporting our local people and marketplace.” All the upholstery products are made in the facility in Com-merce.
The company also supports numerous charitable organizations.
Reupholstery—Why do it?
Do you already have a sofa that is just perfect for the room, and you can't seem to find a current style anywhere that you like? Or do you have a chair that has been passed down for generations and you just can't part with it?
Well, you may be just the perfect candidate for reupholstery.
By maximizing on its extensive resources, The Sofa Company is able to reupholster its existing pieces in a limitless number of options. The reupholstery service can be simply recovering an existing piece with new fabric, but it may also involve restuffing pillows and cushions, and replacing or repairing springs.
Reuphosltery service is guaranteed to be completed in two to three weeks. This quick turn around makes it possible to have furniture recovered for that big party or special event at the last minute, as well as avoiding the inconvenience of being without furniture for too long.
As each reupholstery job is unique, the pricing will vary from job to job.
The Sofa Company has standard rates for most sized pieces, but the more details customers can provide the more accurate a quote they can give.
Details like length and depth of your furniture are the most important, but info about how many cushions and other info about your furniture help as well. And a picture, of course, is always worth 1,000 words.
