A Mother’s Day Happy Hour with live entertainment and roses on Friday, and then a Mother’s Day Buffet Brunch on Sunday are samples of how they celebrate holidays at BridgePoint at Beverly Hills.
At the boutique-hotel style senior community they strive to create a schedule of programs to fulfill residents’ physical, intellectual and spiritual needs and lifestyles.
• The physical component includes chair yoga, strength and balance class, tai chi and aerobics classes. Residents can fill in more activity in the fitness center or with a walk on the lovely residential tree-lined street BridgePoint is located on.
• Learning classes cover current and world events, pop culture, book reviews, computers and many different types of brain games. BridgePoint residents appreciate intellectually stimulating classes and never want to stop learning.
A partnership with the Beverly Hills Adult School allows residents to take classes, like acting and singing as well as poker and blackjack. So, there is tremendous variety of classes all month long, every month.
• The spiritual aspect is represented in on-going discussions and classes with a rabbi as well as weekly Shabbat services.
• Cultural outings include trips to museums, gardens, restaurants and sites like Chinatown, the Farmers Market and Union Station with all of the residents input on where to go. The staff is always looking for something new going on to give residents life enhancement and satisfaction. Recently, residents decided to go to the Hollywood Park race track and San Manuel Casino.
And, there’s always time for fun at BridgePoint. Parties and special events include a Chocolate Fantasy (with a chocolate fountain) for Valentine’s Day and a Black & White Ball in full attire. Resident birthdays at BridgePoint always feature a cake and singing. Holidays are all about the food and live entertainment. And, no one can do a mystery auction like Activities Director Jean Knowles.
Residents who are artists, poets and craftspeople frequently put on their own programs; collections and family heirlooms are put on display for other residents to see. It’s really nice for us when residents share their lives with all of us.
BridgePoint is located at 220 N. Clark Dr.
